Get Optimal Results with PRF

Add PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) to your microneedling or dermal filler treatment and dramatically magnify the rejuvenating effects of your procedure. PRF uses your own platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells to promote collagen production, tighten skin, and more.

What is PRF?

Platelet Rich Fibrin, or PRF, is a newer, more natural treatment option that combats the signs of aging and restores a youthful appearance. PRF contains platelets and white blood cells that produce powerful growth factors that dramatically magnify the rejuvenating effects of certain treatments including: Microneedling, Dermal Fillers, and Hair Restoration.

Prior to your treatment, a small sample of blood is collected to prepare your PRF serum. The blood sample is slowly spun in a centrifuge, isolating the white blood cells and platelets to create a nutrient rich concentrate. Your provider will incorporate the PRF concentrate into the treatment, using the nutrient-rich serum to enhance results.

Microneedling with PRF

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, rejuvenates the skin by harnessing the body’s natural rejuvenation abilities in a process known as controlled wound healing. During a microneedling procedure, microscopic punctures, known as micro-wounds, are created along the skin. Though superficial, the micro-wounds stimulate a ‘wound healing cascade', causing the body to increase circulation, release growth factors, create more cells, and produce more collagen. The result is beautifully restored, naturally rejuvenated skin.

In addition to stimulating a wound healing cascade, microneedling provides an excellent delivery system for topical serums such as PRF, or Platelet Rich Fibrin. The small punctures created in the procedure act as micro-channels that facilitate the delivery of PRF into the deeper layers of the epidermis. This improves both the absorption and mechanism of action. Adding PRF increases the production of collagen, activates platelets and growth factors without the need for synthetic additives, and extends the activity of the blood cells from a couple hours to 14 days.

This treatment is great for acne scars, stretch marks, skin tightening, and overall skin rejuvenation.

Dermal Fillers with PRF

Adding PRF to a dermal filler treatment introduces growth factors to the area, helping to stimulate new collagen production and reverse the signs of aging.

The treatment starts by drawing your blood and spinning it in the centrifuge to separate the PRF from your red blood cells. Your provider will then add the PRF into a filler of your choice such as Juvederm or Restylane, or inject it by itself.

PRF is great as an under eye filler because it helps with the dark circles, wrinkles, and loose skin in the area. It can also be injected to other common areas to smooth and rejuvenate the skin.

Because the PRF uses your own blood for the injection, it is very safe with little to no side effects. The potential side effects include redness, swelling, or bruising.

If you’re looking for a more natural treatment and don’t want to rely too much on dermal fillers, PRF injections may be the right treatment for you.

PRF vs. PRP

The PRF facial is similar to a PRP facial (commonly known as a vampire facial). However, some notable differences distinguish PRF from PRP. These differences make PRF the golden standard in natural skin rejuvenation.

PRF Contains Fibrin. PRP Does Not.
Both PRF and PRP contain platelets and growth factors that stimulate the repair and renewal of your skin. However, PRF also contains Fibrin. PRP does not. Fibrin provides scaffolding that supports the blood cells, activates clotting and promotes the activity of the blood cells, extending the release of growth factors. This is why the growth factors in PRF remain active for 14 days, allowing the skin to fully utilize all the healing properties of the rejuvenating serum. In contrast, PRP is only active for a couple hours once applied. In addition, Fibrin’s supportive networks play an essential role in the rebuilding of collagen and elastin.⁵

PRF Preserves Vital Nutrients
When preparing for a PRP facial, the blood sample is spun very fast. Consequently, many beneficial nutrients are lost in the process. In contrast, a PRF facial spins the blood sample slowly to preserve these delicate nutrients.

PRP Contains Additives. PRF is 100% Natural.
PRP artificially activates the platelets using additives such as thrombin and calcium chloride. In contrast, PRF does not use additives. This allows the fibrin found within your blood sample to create matrixes and activate the growth factors naturally. Free of synthetic chemicals, PRF is a 100% natural, autologous blood concentrate.
